Meet the Doctor

Dr. Phil Matson

Dr. Matson is an expert in Pediatric Dentistry with over six years of experience as an associate in the Central Texas region. Dr. Matson grew up in the state of Washington where he attended the University of Washington for undergrad as well as for his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. After dental school he and his wife, Meghan, made the move to Texas to continue his education at the Texas A&M Health Sciences College of Dentistry, earning his Masters in Oral Biology and certificate in Pediatric Dentistry.

Though he’s not a Texas native, central Texas has come to be his home where enjoys a family life that includes his lovely wife and two young boys (plus a fuzzy baby —Toby). The Matson family loves what Central Texas has to offer, and regularly enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, culture and food.

While watching his own practice become a reality is a dream-come-true for Dr. Matson, it is his passion for shaping the dental habits of the next generation that fuels him. He loves addressing the misconceptions of dental care and easing the fears of young patients.

Meet the Staff

We’re excited to introduce you to our expert team we’ve built here at Destination Pediatric Dentistry.

Kallan

Kallan

Dental Assistant

Kallan is originally from Apple Valley, CA but has lived in Texas for almost 10 years now.  She started off assisting straight out of High School, as a “quick” job but ended up falling in love with it and has been working in dentistry ever since!  Kallan is fantastic with our young patients because she has a young daughter of her own.  She is an avid reader and traveler and would love to one day visit Peru, Tahiti or Switzerland.

Jessica

Jessica

Front Desk

Jessica is a native Texan who grew up in the Dallas area. She first got involved in dentistry because her mom is a hygienist and she loves working with kids. Jess is our resident artist and crafty right brainer who is first to volunteer for any of our “artsy” needs. On weekends, you may catch her out on a football field playing competitive flag football (no seriously, she’s legit). If she could travel anywhere, it would be to the beach with her husband and daughter.

Amanda

Amanda

Dental Assistant

Amanda is a native Texan and was actually born and raised in Austin (a true unicorn).  She started working as a dental assistant when she moved out to Virginia after high school and met a friend who did dental assisting out there.  She has a passion for educating our patients on proper hygiene and diet and if she wasn’t working in dentistry would probably be working in a veterinary clinic in some fashion because she loves animals.  If Amanda could travel anywhere, she would probably head to Ireland with her husband and son.

Our Practice

$

Kids have different dental needs than adults. As they grow, so do their mouths – from 20 baby teeth to 32 adult teeth.

All too often, we hear stories from adults about the traumatizing dental experiences of their youth— and we want to change that!

Our ultimate goal is to prevent problems (like cavities) from happening, but in the event they do, we specialize in treating them in the most positive, atraumatic way possible while instilling the healthy practices necessary to boast fantastic oral health for years to come.

Travel-themed Exam Rooms

We want your visit to our office to be welcoming and pleasant; a place you enjoy and want to return to. Our hope is that our travel-themed, private exam rooms emulate the feelings associated with being on vacation. It is our core belief that by making the process fun and something you can look forward to, we can help shape positive dental practices early on. We want to help your child develop the knowledge and skills to take responsibility for their oral health as they transition into young adults.

Because Dental Visits Don’t Need to be Scary

The unknown can be scary for people, especially children who have fantastical imaginations! That’s why we enlisted the help of Fredi the Yeti. He’s our official mascot who aims to help make tooth care fun!

We love changing the preconceived notions of what oral health and dental treatment can be. We want to show you how the dentist’s office can be a fun, safe and positive place for your child’s oral health.

Great Smiles Take Practice

Just like basketball, the violin, or ballet, a great smile is the result of healthy practices started early and often. Our office offers a unique experience with travel-themed rooms, designed to make the process something kids can look forward to. We welcome parents to join their children during their appointment and actively participate in their dental care.
